Villa Melnik is a renowned winery located in Hârsovo village (Melnik region), Bulgaria. Between 2003 and 2004, with exceptional determination and unwavering optimism, the founders gradually began planting their vineyards. To ensure a consistently high standard of the final product, they decided to open their winery in 2013.
The winery cultivates various grape varieties suitable for the region's climatic conditions. Among them, we can mention the local ones – Shiroka Melnishka Loza, Melnik 55, Melnik 1300 Jubilee, Ruen, and Mavrud. Among the international varieties, they plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah. The winery produces a variety of wines characterized by unique character and quality.
Traditional wine cellar in the sand hill
In the traditional manner characteristic of this region, the wine cellar is carved deep into the sand hill itself. This unique method not only gives the cellar a secluded and mysterious appearance but also ensures relatively constant humidity and temperature. These are ideal conditions for the proper and successful maturation of wine, which further highlights the wine character of the region.
