Vergnano Coffee

One of the oldest Italian coffee roasting companies – Caffé Vergnano – has been managed by the Vergnano family for 4 generations. Established in 1882, it owes its success to upholding traditions, but also places great importance on creativity, innovation, and an uncompromising pursuit of premium quality.

The dream of a coffee company was born with the opening of a small general store in Chieri – a picturesque town at the foot of the Turin Hills. The store was managed by Domenico Vergnano and laid the foundations for the successful company. Soon after, the true calling of the Vergnano family was revealed – the small store mastered the secrets of coffee sales. The family business developed at full speed, and two more stores were opened – in Turin and Alba. Extremely significant progress in the company's development occurred in the 1930s when the Vergnano family made the bold decision to buy a coffee plantation in Kenya. In the 1970s, the company continued to develop even more successfully – already under the leadership of Carlo and Franco Vergnano.

In 1982, Caffé Vergano acquired the historically significant brand Casa del Caffe and began to develop in the food service sector. The company successfully expanded its activities worldwide, establishing itself in a number of foreign markets. In 2000, the brand returned to where it all began – in Chieri. By creating the first "Caffé Vergnano 1882" café in this iconic location for the company, the brand became an ambassador of authentic Italian espresso worldwide.

The Caffé Vergnano factory spans 13,500 square meters and has 18 automated production lines. It ranks sixth among Italian wholesalers, has over 70 points of sale in 19 countries, and exports to 80 countries, where it is very successfully positioned. In 2011, the company introduced its first Nespresso-compatible capsule, and 4 years later, analyzing and researching environmental issues, it also introduced compostable coffee capsules. In 2022, Caffé Vergnano signed a major partnership with Coca-Cola HBC, which further accelerated its international growth.

Constant pursuit of excellence

Caffé Vergnano is a company that upholds its long-standing traditions, but at the same time is one of the most dynamic and innovative producers – a true pioneer in the segment. The company's team works masterfully and with a constant striving for perfection. Pietro Vergnano selects only the best coffee beans to guarantee the maintenance of high quality and perfect flavors. He carefully oversees both the raw materials at every step of the production process and the quality of the finished product. Everything is carried out following high and strict standards that meet national requirements and regulations.

Perfect baking using traditional methods

The most delicate stage of production is coffee roasting, which is crucial for achieving a perfect balance between aromas and taste intensity. Coffee beans, although varying in shape and size, must reach an ideal level of roast. Individual coffee varieties are separated by origin so that each can be roasted to the desired degree. Most modern coffee factories use the industrial "turbo" method, which consists of roasting cycles of 5-6 minutes at high temperatures. In contrast, Caffé Vergnano applies the traditional "slow" method, where cycles last from 18 to 22 minutes. With each new coffee roasting cycle, batches are controlled manually and with extreme attention to detail to ensure the consistent premium quality of the products.

Coffee - part of a sustainable future

"A company goes furthest when it never believes it has reached its goal. Every day is an opportunity for innovation, experimentation, and new challenges." Following this principle, since 1999, Caffé Vergnano has introduced a policy for improving environmental quality, which is equivalent to a higher quality of life. The company was the first on the Italian market to produce compostable capsules. After continuous research and careful analysis of materials, Caffé Vergnano successfully developed its fully recyclable packaging. The company promotes gender equality and women in the workforce on coffee plantations and supports products based on sustainable agriculture. With its innovative spirit and search for modern and sustainable solutions, the brand offers an increasing variety of options for its customers.
