Growing up on a remote Scottish farm, James and John Chivas knew that the world around them was changing and the idealistic place they called home was no longer big enough for their dreams of changing the world.

After a three-day journey on foot, the brothers found themselves in Aberdeen – a city that perfectly suited their ambitions. Finding a lucrative livelihood in Aberdeen, James was quickly captivated by a whole new world of exceptional tastes and aromas. Everything seemed possible, and James quickly gained a reputation as a man who could provide even the impossible. If it wasn't stocked, they found it. If they couldn't find it, they created it themselves.

When John joined the business, the Chivas Regal brand was born.
