"VINPROM-TROYAN" JSC is a national leader in the production of natural fruit distillates and rakia, traditional for the Troyan region. The company was established in 1948 as a division of the State Spirit Monopoly and primarily focused its activities on the production of Troyan plum and apple rakia. In 1959, the enterprise became independent and began a process of modernization. With the increase in production, the need for technological improvement also grew, and in 1968, a new and modern enterprise was built. In 1990, with the demonopolization of the industry, the state-owned company "VINPROM – TROYAN" was registered. A series of transformations followed, and in 1997, through mass privatization, the joint-stock company "VINPROM – TROYAN" was registered. In 2007, the Czech company RUDOLF JELINEK acquired the majority stake in the company, thus becoming part of the world's largest producer of fruit distillates.
The enterprise has a capacity to process 6000 tons of fruit annually and has storage facilities for aging 500 tons of rakia.
Undoubtedly, the company's most famous product is Troyan Plum Rakia, which accounts for over 90% of the total production. It is distinguished by an unforgettable taste, unadulterated specificity, and is listed in the European Register of Protected Geographical Indications. "VINPROM-TROYAN" offers various types of plum rakia, which differ in their character and the period of aging in oak barrels. The company continuously expands its product range with high-quality fruit rakia. In its portfolio, you will find apricot, pear, apple, quince, mirabelle, sour cherry, and cherry rakia, each of which is produced according to a traditional recipe and classic technology.
A few years ago, the brand launched the "Vinprom-Troyan Gardens" project, which aims to restore the tradition of growing plums in the Troyan region, from which Troyan Plum Rakia is to be produced. On August 1, 2018, plums of the Stanley, JoJo, Căcianska Lepotica, and Top End varieties were planted on an area of about 380 decares near the village of Debnevo. After 3 years of careful care for the fruit trees, the trees yielded their first harvest in 2021. The fruits are hand-picked and are yet to be processed and turned into special high-quality products.
The fruit rakia from "VINPROM-TROYAN" are certified for KOSHER production and comply with Jewish dietary traditions. The company has received numerous awards, diplomas, and accolades for its products, with the first gold medal received in faraway Ljubljana in 1964.
