Alexandra Estate

Alexandra Estate

What sets Alexandra Estate apart in viticulture are the principles of organic and biodynamic farming.

Alexandra Estate winery began in 2012 with the purchase of 200 decares of prime vineyards in the Sakar region, which has proven to be one of the most famous wine regions in Bulgaria.

In 2013, Alexandra Estate expanded with another 100 decares of vineyards in the village of Rakitnitsa, Stara Zagora region, located 300 meters above sea level. Their carbonate soils contribute to the excellent quality of the grapes planted on them. Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillon will yield their first fruit in 2016.

For vinification, proprietary French oak barrels with a capacity of 225 liters and 300 liters were used. All wines were fermented and aged in barrels, with even the rosé partially fermented in French oak. Alexandra Estate employs proven specialists: vineyard cultivation is entrusted to Atanas Shiderov and Eric Moreau. Alexander Velyanov and Thierry Haberer are responsible for vinification and blend creation.

Vineyards

The Alexandra Estate vineyards in Oreshets village, Harmanli region, are in their first year of fruit-bearing when they attract the attention of experts, and their proximity to a 100-year-old oak forest and their location at the foot of the Eastern Rhodopes further contribute to their selection.

Climate and Terroir

The vineyards have a northern exposure. This allows the grapes to retain good acidity even in this region with a typically hot climate.
