Cor-Ten

"Every day we believed we were creating the perfect wine, but in the end, we realized that wine perfects us, teaching us patience, discipline, responsibility, and teamwork."

Korten Winery is created in the eponymous boutique winery. The winery is known for its applied methods of micro-vinification and its emblematic red wines.

It boasts state-of-the-art facilities from leading global manufacturers. This allows for the combination of tradition with the most modern winemaking practices in the production of high-class boutique wines.

Korten Winery owns a base of 2300 American and French barrels – an essential condition for the vinification and production of premium wines, in which batches from various vintages are aged.

Technology

The work of the oenologists is based on methods applied in France for producing small batches of limited edition wines, as well as "vin de garage" style wines. This gives a unique character to the wines from each individual vintage. To achieve this, they focus on thorough work in the vineyard and entirely manual winemaking methods. The grapes they select are from chosen and controlled vineyards in the region, are hand-picked, and are vinified in small oak fermenters up to 500 liters, as well as in small stainless steel tanks of 960 liters. All activities crucial for the quality of the wine, such as cap management and pressing in a basket press, are carried out manually by the experienced technological team.

Team

The entire activity of managing the vineyards and making the wine is led by some of the most prominent Bulgarian oenologists - Kapka Georgieva and Rosen Georgiev. Their teamwork began when they started together to research the quality of individual plots and experiment with small volumes, following all important rules for producing premium wines. They were very pleasantly surprised by the results when they tasted them. From then until today, they continue to work together in pursuit of absolute finesse and harmony in every detail of the taste of the wines they create.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the team and the winery is based on the belief that the creation of "great wines" begins in the vineyard. Work in the vineyards is the most important element in an already established technology. Today, the possibilities for innovation and improvement of technology are almost exhausted from a scientific, technical, and technological point of view, and therefore, the modern winemaker's focus is increasingly directed towards the vineyard. The most fundamental steps on the path to creating a "great wine" are yield regulation, growth vigor, canopy management, and adapting all these elements to the year and moisture availability. All of this is embedded in their work in crafting the "Korten" wines.

The character of Korten wines is based on the harmonious relationship between man and nature. The winemakers' aim is to utilize natural processes as much as possible to produce authentic and natural wines with pronounced varietal characteristics and an expression of the terroir, wines that embody all their experience, philosophy, and unique style. These are wines that offer connoisseurs an exciting sensory experience with their strong individuality and enormous potential for development over time.
