“Someday I'll make my own wine!” These words from my father probably initiated the start, and in 1984, he began building the winery together with my mother Paula. As a newly established brand, he bottled 1000 bottles of Blaufränkisch in the first year. This wine reflected all his passion and the uncompromising style of GAGER winery. It immediately won the Falstaff wine award in its category and took second place in the overall ranking.
In the 80s and 90s, vineyards increasingly replaced the cultivation of sugar beets and cereals, and wine became the focus of our family. As a result, my father gave up his career as a master mechanic at the age of 50 to dedicate himself 100% to his great passion.
I grew up with the business and a passion for wine, and in 2003, like my father, I changed my career and dedicated myself to winemaking. This decision laid the foundation for the near future, and between 2000 and 2006, we renovated, modernized, and expanded Gager winery to its current size of 40 hectares.
