Sattlerhof

Sattlerhof

The winery is located in the municipality of Gamlitz in the Austrian wine region of Southern Styria. The winery has been family-owned since 1887 and is managed by Willi and Maria Sattler. Wilhelm Sattler is considered a pioneer in the cultivation of dry wines in Styria, for which he was awarded the Golden Honorary Medal of the province. Since 2014, their son Andreas has been the main manager of the winery. The second son, Andreas, contributes his ideas and has been focusing on the winery since 2018 and is primarily responsible for the vineyards.

The estate's vineyards consist of 35 hectares of vines located on extremely steep slopes with an incline of up to 70% at 400 to 450 meters above sea level. They are planted up to 95% with white varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon (Chardonnay), Gelber Muskateller, Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), and Welschriesling, with the remaining portion dedicated to the red wine variety Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir). Cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines for organic viticulture. Since 2016, the entire operation has been certified as organic. In addition to old vines, quality criteria primarily include yield reduction and only manual harvesting in small crates.
