The legend of raspberry wine was born a long time ago: it's almost as old as the Cyrillic alphabet!

Trastena raspberry wine is made in the "Trastenaya" area of the Balkan Mountains, which is particularly favorable due to its clean air. It rises high above Lakatnik. Stories from the elderly people of the nearby village of Bov claim that in the past there were vineyards around the eponymous Trastenaya hut.

The legend of raspberry wine was born back when the St. Panteleimon Monastery still existed. It was built on the site of an ancient Thracian sanctuary by disciples of Cyril and Methodius. The monks spent their time not only in prayer but also in producing raspberry wine. It tempted pilgrims from all over to visit and taste the elixir. The recipe was strictly guarded and passed down from generation to generation.
