Varna Winery

The winery is the realized dream of two friends from different generations, but with the same attitude towards the beautiful and valuable things in life. The name Varna provokes with the idea of reviving the forgotten winemaking traditions in the region.

"Winery - Varna" is a joint project of Grigor Grigorov - vine grower and investor, and Tsanko Stanchev - technologist and enologist with many years of experience.

The winery has been operating since 2008 and is part of a complex for grape processing, wine and brandy production. Here you can also enjoy wine tourism with a tasting room and a shop for wine and accessories. It is located 2 km from the seashore, in close proximity to resort complexes such as Albena, Balchik, Golden Sands.

Winery "Varna" is equipped with modern facilities that ensure the production of high-quality wines. The technology is in line with the latest global trends.

Vineyards

Our vineyards are predominantly planted with white grape varieties such as Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, German Riesling, Italian Riesling, Traminer, Grüner Veltliner, and Muscat Ottonel. Some Bulgarian varieties like Varna Misket and Vratsa Misket are also represented. The red grape varieties we grow, such as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, and Grenache, are very suitable for rosé wine production.

Terroir

The northern Black Sea coast region is known for its very specific climatic and soil characteristics. Sandy to cinnamon-forest soil – highly draining, allowing for control of soil moisture. The influence of the sea is also felt in the taste of our wines.

Climate

Moderate summer temperatures, without sharp fluctuations between day and night, which helps the even ripening of the grapes. Night breeze – air movement that prevents the development of fungi. Moderate air humidity – helps maintain the plant's turgor pressure.

The wines we produce are primarily sold on the domestic market in the Varna region and along the Black Sea coast as bottled products.

The company's enologist, Tihomir Trifonov, also received recognition, being named Enologist of 2016 by the Union of Enologists in Bulgaria.
