Description
The winery was established through the partnership of Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Laurent Dassault in their pursuit of a great terroir at the foot of the Andes. Their goal was to create a "grand cru" of the New World, an excellent Argentine wine, from this little-known but remarkable terroir. The vineyard was planted in 1999 with almost 102 hectares and 48 plots. Harvesting and vinification are traditional, respecting the purity of the grapes, and the harvest is done by hand. Located 120 kilometers south of Mendoza, the Uco Valley is situated in the most important of Mendoza's five wine-producing regions.
Aging takes place in French oak, as well as in cement concrete tanks and stainless steel tanks. The wines remain there for a period of time (between 12 and 24 months) depending on each wine and vintage.
The aroma offers ripe blackberry with chocolate shavings and black pepper. The taste is rich and fruity, with creamy notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and spices.
