Description

Teso La Monja was founded in 2007 by Marcos and Miguel Angel Eguren, fourth-generation winemakers. The family chose vineyards in the northernmost part of DO Toro with sandy soils, but with a much higher proportion of rounded stones than typical. This produces exceptionally silky, elegant wines.

100% Tinta de Toro, pre-phylloxera. The average age of the vineyard is over 100 years and an altitude of over 800m.

Grapes are hand-destemmed, berry by berry. Whole berries ferment in 1000-liter French oak barrels. Aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. A wine with great aging potential.

Red color with violet notes.

Pleasant fruit aromas combined with floral and spicy notes.

A wine with ripe tannins, complex and balanced. Long finish.

We recommend decanting 2 hours before consumption.
