The oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland
Founded on the stony coast of County Antrim, the village of Bushmills is home to the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland. The first official documents date back to 1680, the year a license was issued for distilling in the region. 400 years later, thanks to the experience and craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, whiskey is still made in Bushmills. We cannot make whiskey anywhere else but here. Our water, sourced from the River Bush, flows over basalt rocks, the same ones that give a unique character to another local attraction - the Giant's Causeway. The casks we choose for aging our whiskey are also of fundamental importance, so we select them from chosen coopers in Spain, Portugal, and America. Once delivered to the Old Bushmills Distillery, our master craftsmen inspect each cask before filling it and leaving it to mature. This way, the casks impart the rich, smooth, and characteristic taste to our whiskey.
