Château La Lagune 3rd Grand Cru Classé 2015 Magnum, 1.5
The success story of the château began in the 1950s when one of the most prominent wine gurus in world history, Alexis Lichine, set out to restore the then dilapidated château to Bordeaux's elite. Subsequent owners continued his work, and so, after diligent effort, today Château La Lagune is an example of a perfect Cru Classé. In terms of quality, the estate often surpasses higher-classified wine estates, and the château is known for its consistency. The wine is exceptionally complex and stylistically reminiscent of the best Bordeaux wines, and today it is managed by visionary winemaker Caroline Frey. Château La Lagune is known for producing intense and well-structured wines with a long life. The La Lagune vineyard is planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. The large 90-hectare vineyard at Château La Lagune typically has 85 hectares planted with vines, with 5 hectares often awaiting replanting. The vineyard has a terroir of gravelly and sandy soils. However, the estate is much larger, covering 150 hectares. A large part of this land is forested with green parks and woods.
