Château Pavie-Macquin Premier Grand Cru Classé 2008, 0.75
The history of Château Pavie Macquin is associated with the prominent Albert Macquin (1852-1911). He helped Saint-Emilion with the grafting of vines, which was intended to save vineyards destroyed by phylloxera. He is "the man of reconstruction." The current owners are the grandchildren of this great gentleman. In 1994, they appointed Nicolas Thienpont as manager of the estate. Accompanied by Stéphane Derenoncourt, they jointly produce wines of exceptional finesse. After a revision of the Saint-Emilion classification (published in September 2006), Château Pavie Macquin achieved the prestigious rank of "Premier."
This magnificent terroir of Saint-Emilion, so qualitative and specific, is favored by the Château's team, which ensures that the wine can reveal its full power and generosity, while expressing its finesse and minerality. They passionately adhere to natural laws and a dynamic tradition, through care and research. The biological study of soils, the refusal of herbicides, composting, the study of accompanying plants, the refrigerated transport of the harvest, vinification in spherical vessels, aging on lees, the bâtonnage of red wines, reflect attention to detail at all levels of production.
