Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2nd Growth Classification 2010, 0.75
Château Pichon Comtesse is an estate in Pauillac on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. In the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the estate was classified as a Second Growth and belongs to an unofficial group called "Super Seconds." It is located in the southern part of the Pauillac appellation, right next to Château Latour and a short distance from the border with Saint-Julien. The attractive château building here can be seen from the D2 road when approaching Pauillac from the south, on the opposite side of the street from Château Pichon Baron. The two neighbors were once part of a larger estate, which was divided in two in 1850. From 1978 to the mid-2000s, Pichon Comtesse was managed by Madame May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, one of the most prominent women in Bordeaux's history.
Today, the estate belongs to the Rouzaud family, owners of Louis Roederer Champagne. The estate, which currently boasts 80 hectares of vineyards, is managed by the talented winemaker Nicolas Glumineau. Nicolas and his team also manage Château de Pez, a sister estate to the north in Saint-Estèphe.
The wine comes in an original wooden box.
