Château Potensac Cru Bourgeois 2016 Jeroboam, 5.0
Château Potensac is a leading Cru Bourgeois estate located between the villages of Bignana and Ordonac in the northernmost part of the Médoc. Potensac is a large estate, consisting of 50 hectares of vineyards planted on soils rich in alluvial gravel and red clay. The quality at the estate has been improving since Michel Delon (known for Léoville-Las-Cases) took over management of the property in the 1970s. Château Potensac has plantings of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc with a high average age of about 35 years. The grapes at Potensac are hand-harvested and then vinified in a combination of temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in small oak barrels (20% new) for 14-16 months.
