Château Senejac Cru Bourgeois 2016, 0.75
Château Sénéjac is one of the most famous Crus Bourgeois of Haut-Médoc, located near the vineyards of Margaux, just next to Parempuyre in the far south of the Haut-Médoc region. Sénéjac is a historic estate of 150 hectares, of which only 38 are planted with vines. Even in the mid-19th century, it produced 100,000 bottles of wine, which is not far from its current total. Its reputation as a producer of high-quality wine flourished in the 1980s, and in 1999 it entered a new era when it was purchased by Lorraine Cordier, whose family also owns the famous estate in Saint-Julien - Chateau Talbot. The vineyards of Château Sénéjac, covering an area of 150 hectares, are planted with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. The vineyard is located at the southernmost end of the Haut-Médoc appellation in the commune of Le Pian Médoc. The Left Bank vineyard is situated in one large block of vines. The terroir consists primarily of gravelly soils. It is aged in oak barrels (25% new) for 18 months. Château Sénéjac wines offer magnificent value and relatively early appeal, as well as after a decade.
