Description
Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vineyards spread across 14 appellations, including parcels in the prestigious grand cru vineyards of Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant.
At the winery, grapes are destemmed before a brief period of cold maceration. Fermentation takes place in both stainless steel and oak before being immediately racked into barrel for aging. Depending on the status of the wines, various amounts of French oak are incorporated, with the grand crus receiving a higher proportion of new oak. Wines are bottled without fining or filtering.
Confuron holds two plots in Clos de Vougeot, both located at the top of the Grand Cru, totalling 0.5 ha. This wine is inky, textured, and beguilingly perfumed, with expansive licorice and black cherry aromas that carry through to a balanced, refreshing palate, aged in 80% new oak. Very good and age-worthy.
