Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Albert Bichot 0.75
A truly unique, stone-walled enclosed terroir, discovered 9 centuries ago by Cistercian monks, later a bone of contention between the French King, the Duke of Burgundy, and the monks, today divided among 80 owners.
The advantage of Albert Bichot's plot is that it spans from the lowest to the highest point – a continuous strip formed by different soils and varied vine exposures. Because it is precisely the diversity of the massif's soils that gives the wine its uniqueness! Aging: Between 14 and 18 months in oak barrels (new oak between 60%).
Color: Ruby-red, which deepens with age.
Aroma: When young, Clos de Vougeot develops a very full and diverse palette of red and black berries. With aging, it adds tobacco and tea notes.
Taste: Strong on the palate, but not harsh, with a typical menthol note that can be appreciated vintage after vintage.
