Clos du Clocher 2018, 0.75
Description
The Clos du Clocher vineyard estate was founded in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, who started with a small plot of vines near the church in Pomerol. The property was assembled and created one parcel or row of vines at a time. Following the initial creation of Clos du Clocher, the estate grew to three parcels totaling 4.6 hectares in the Right Bank vineyards. The vines have an average age of 25 years, but there are older parcels of vines as well. In fact, their oldest plot of vines dates back to 1957. These vines were planted directly after the devastating frosts. The wine is aged in about 60% new, French oak barrels for a period of between 16 and 20 months. Starting with the 2014 Bordeaux vintage, the estate began vinifying a portion of the harvest using micro-vinification techniques, which means they now vinify a portion of their production entirely in French oak barrels.
