Edradour 10YO Ballechin 0.7
Description
Ballechin is a series of heavily peated malts from the Edradour distillery, with a minimum of 50 ppm. The name comes from a distillery located near Edradour named Ballechin, which is currently not operating. This 10-year-old malt ages in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
Nose: Oily malt, perfume of burnt barbecue coals, with a slight touch of apple and fig.
Taste: Dates and oak, smoldering peat bringing spicy warmth to the palate.
Finish: A hint of ash is again noticeable on the finish.
Founded in 1825 in the heart of the Highlands, Edradour maintains its historical heritage as a craft distillery. Its whiskies are a bit unconventional for a Highland single malt, but full of charm. The Edradour Distillery is also known as the smallest distillery in Scotland, in addition to its unique whisky.
Edradour (pronounced Ed-ra-dower) is best known for being the smallest distillery in Scotland. Its capacity is only 130,000 liters per year (about 2 barrels per day), an amount that a Speyside distillery produces in just one week. Only three men work and are dedicated to the art of producing this signature Southern Highland malt whisky.
