Description
The Flor de Caña distillery (Spanish for "sugarcane flower") is produced by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, which was founded in 1890.
The story begins when, in 1875, Italian explorer Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa traveled to Nicaragua. By 1890, he had found the location for the Flor de Caña distillery in Chichigalpa at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano. The natural area boasts incredibly fertile soils and mineral-enriched aquifers, while the hot climate, of course, is ideal for aging rum. This is the only rum brand in the world that is permitted to bear the "Slow Aged" designation, which describes its natural, unhurried aging process. This is a rum that contains no sugar, caramel, gluten, artificial ingredients, or enhancers. It is distilled using a continuous multi-column method, according to Spanish tradition, up to 5 times, with 100% renewable energy. It is aged in small 180-liter charred white oak bourbon barrels under natural climatic conditions.
