Giorgio Primo PGI 2017, La Massa 0.75
Fattoria La Massa is idyllically located in the Conca d'Oro, in the Chianti Classico hills of Panzano. Giampaolo Motta has been the owner since 1992. He is a native of Naples and spent a lot of time in Bordeaux. The vineyards of La Massa are situated at 315 to 460 meters above sea level. 27 of the 45 hectares are planted with vines. After extensive studies over the last ten years, the vineyards have been completely restructured, taking into account the peculiarities of the soil, geography, and microclimate. The most important varieties are the classic Tuscan Sangiovese and typical Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Giampaolo is a passionate supporter of the great Bordeaux wines and is convinced of the great potential of these varieties in the terroir of La Massa.
The wine is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are carefully selected from the vineyards of the La Massa estate in Tuscany. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which gives it a complex and rich aromatic profile. The wine has a deep ruby color and a bouquet of ripe dark fruits, spices, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. The wine has good aging potential and can be enjoyed now or aged in the cellar for several more years.
