Description

At the 500-year-old Zehenthof farm in Kammern in Kamptal, the Hirsch family dedicates their entire passion to winemaking. Their philosophy is: the soil makes the wine. Even more than the grape variety, the location determines the character of the wines. Therefore, Hirsch wines are always wines of origin. For this reason, only the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling grape varieties are used. The result is wines with individuality, from biodynamically cultivated vineyards, that reflect the power of the region.

The slopes of this vineyard area extend east of Heiligenstein mountain; they have a clear south-facing aspect and an average gradient of about 11%. The lower-lying areas have highly calcareous chernozem soils with fragments of crystalline rocks. The upper parts of the slopes consist mainly of gneiss. Hand-harvested in October. Aging takes place in both stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels.

Pale yellow-green, silvery reflections. Delicate notes of fresh white apple, a hint of mango, subtle herbal spices, mineral notes. Juicy ripe Golden Delicious apple, balanced, fine acidity, definite aging potential.
