Description

Le Serre Nuove is made primarily from the estate's younger vineyards and crafted with the same passion and attention to detail as Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a true "second wine." A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it combines generosity and depth of flavor with an interesting and vibrant personality.

Grapes are hand-harvested into small baskets, then double-selected before and after destemming. Each varietal and block is vinified separately. Fermentation is in stainless steel, followed by 10 days of skin maceration. The wine ages in oak barrels, 25% new, for approximately 12 months. The components are then blended and returned to barrels for another 3+ months of aging. After bottling, the wine ages and stabilizes in the bottle for six months at the winery before its release.
