Description
Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton was an Irish explorer of the Antarctic. In 1907, he set sail on his ship "Nimrod" to lead his first expedition. To boost team spirit, Sir Ernest Shackleton personally ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt. He intended for them to celebrate every birthday and occasion related to the crew's loved ones, as they would be far from them for a long time.
In 2007, a century after the Nimrod expedition, several perfectly preserved bottles of this whiskey were discovered, frozen in the ice beneath Shackleton's base camp at Cape Royds. World-renowned master blender, Richard Paterson, conducted a thorough analysis to recreate this ancient whiskey. He used the findings as a basis for creating Shackleton - a modern blended malt with ice in its DNA.
Color: Golden, amber honey;
Aroma: Vanilla, brioche, ginger, marmalade, and cinnamon;
Taste: Dried fruits, pineapple, ginger. Memorable finish with notes of crème brûlée, dark caramel, and a gentle smoke.
