Description

Bodega Sierra Cantabria is owned by the Eguren family, which also owns the Teso la Monja winery in Toro DO and other smaller wineries in Rioja such as Señorío San Vicente, Dominio de Eguren, and Viñedos de Páganos. The winery gets its name from the mountain range, at an altitude of 1200 meters, which protects these vineyards from cold northern winds, creating a Mediterranean-continental microclimate with mild winters and mild summers.

Estate vineyards in Los Terreros and Jararte, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja. Calcareous clay soils; abundant gravel and small rounded stones on the surface. Planting year: 1957 and 1959.

100% Tempranillo. Manual work and harvesting. Calcareous clay soils, typical of Sonsierra Riojana. 16 months in new French (50%) and American (50%) barrique barrels. Racked every four months. Aging takes place in underground cellars, carved by the family in the late 1990s.

Colección Privada is the wine that started Viñedos Sierra Cantabria, the Eguren family's line of single cru wines, produced from single vineyards located in and around San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

A concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, accompanied by spicy notes and hints of coffee. Full-bodied, well-structured wine that displays silky tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a long, aromatic finish.
