Description
The Tenuta Tignanello estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the gently rolling hillsides between the Greve and Pesa river valleys. It covers an area of 319 hectares (788 acres), of which approximately 130 (321 acres) are dedicated to vineyards.
Two of the estate's most significant vineyards are located on the same hillside – Tignanello and Solaia – on soils derived from marine marl from the Pliocene period, rich in limestone and schist. The vineyards benefit from hot daytime temperatures and cooler evenings throughout the growing season.
The two distinctive wines of the estate – Solaia and Tignanello – are produced from these vineyards and have been described by the international press as "some of the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture."
Antinori's Solaia 2018 recreates all the elegance of this important vintage. The bouquet alone is mesmerizing. It speaks of the stunning beauty and pedigree of Cabernet Sauvignon grown at the Antinori family's Tignanello estate. Sweet aromas of crème de cassis, lavender, graphite, mint, spices, and espresso lead to a refined taste. Bright and energetic, the 2018 Solaia is distinctly medium-bodied, with striking purity and exceptional beauty.
