The Balvenie is unlike any other malt whisky, thanks to the human factor in craftsmanship and natural alchemy.
It all starts with raw materials.
The Balvenie is the only distillery that grows its own barley, uses a traditional malting floor, and has its own coppersmiths and coopers – this makes us the "most handcrafted" malt today.
The Balvenie 12YO Double Wood is a single malt whisky that acquires its unique character from aging in two types of casks. It matures in traditional oak casks, which give it softness and character, and then it is transferred to first-fill sherry casks, which give it additional depth and fullness of flavor.
Nose – Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla.
Taste - Smooth and mellow, beautifully combined flavors of nuts, cumin and sherry, with a long finish.
Finish – Warm and lingering.
