Located in the lesser-known western Imereti region of Georgia, Archil Guniava Wine Cellar is a family winery that produces truly unique wines. At Archil Guniava, they source their grapes from a prime 1.5-hectare plot situated south of the Kvirila River. The high-altitude location lends a wonderful fresh acidity to their white wines.

Tsitska is indigenous to Imereti and is one of the oldest white grape varietals in the world. It is often used for sparkling and still white wines – but the amber wines Archil Guniava creates (using the ancient Georgian Qvevri method) are prized by locals and international wine connoisseurs alike.

This particular wine sits somewhere in the middle of a white and an amber – 15% of the grape skins are left to ferment with the juice for 4 months. So you can discover classic, fresh notes of apples and peaches, complemented by distinct dry notes of tea leaves and raisins imparted by the Qvevri.
