Description

Teso La Monja was founded in 2007 by Marcos and Miguel Angel Eguren, fourth-generation winemakers. The family chose vineyards in the northernmost part of DO Toro, which have a much higher proportion of rounded stones than typical. This produces exceptionally silky, elegant wines.

100% Tinta de Toro from own vineyards. Average age: 45 years to over 100 years. Altitude: 750 - 900 m. Integrated viticulture, environmentally friendly.

Strict double sorting before and after destemming. Whole berries ferment in temperature-controlled 5000-liter stainless steel tanks. Aged for 20 months in new French barriques. A wine with great aging potential.

Aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums, complemented by subtle spicy notes such as black pepper and cinnamon, which give it a distinctive character.

On the palate, it is intense and powerful, well-structured, with pronounced but velvety tannins.

We recommend decanting 2 hours beforehand.
