Absolut Vodka is one of the most famous vodkas in the world. Launched in the US in 1979, it completely redefined the premium vodka landscape, becoming synonymous with art, culture, and nightlife. Starting a cocktail revolution and launching a range of flavored vodkas never before seen on the market, Absolut became an icon in its own right.
The creation of Absolut Vodka is a holistic journey, rooted in our Swedish tradition of giving back to our source and community. Having one source and one community means that we respectfully control the entire process from seed to bottle, tracing the very product in your hand back to our farmers.
One Source is our production philosophy, meaning that every aspect of our production journey takes place in and around the small village of Åhus, Sweden. All ingredients for Absolut vodka are sourced from southern Sweden. Every drop of water and every seed of wheat come from one water source, one village, and one community. This is why, no matter where you are in the world, Absolut will always have the same high quality.
We only use hardy winter wheat from the area around Åhus in Southern Sweden. The fertile fields in Southern Sweden are ideal for growing wheat, with yields approximately double the global average for wheat production.
We always source our water locally from our own wells, over 140 meters deep. The water has filtered through the Swedish bedrock for thousands of years and gives the vodka a natural taste that you cannot create in a lab. Ultimately, 60% of vodka is pure water, so this is an extremely essential element.
Through continuous improvement and maintaining a focus on how we can be more sustainable, we have made our distillery one of the most energy-efficient in the world. Today, we have CO2-neutral distillation, a fact we are proud of.
