BLACK SEA GOLD – the story unfolds...

The history of Chernomorsko Zlato winery began in 1924 in Pomorie. Enterprising Bulgarians established the first Dimyat Viticultural and Winery Cooperative, and the centuries of winemaking experience gave the Pomorie winemakers the confidence to build the first modern winery in the city in 1932.

Pomorie is a place with a rich and tumultuous history and renowned wine traditions. For many centuries, the legend of the glorious Pomorie wines, which were an honored and desired guest at the royal tables in Ancient Troy and the medieval cities of Genoa and Venice, has traveled through time from generation to generation.

In the 1950s, Chernomorsko Zlato took on the appearance of a modern factory whose products were highly valued. Twenty years later, a special facility with 12,000 oak barrels for aging wine distillate was created. In 1994, the winery imported 8 original Charentais pot stills from the Cognac region of France. With these, the "Gold" of Pomorie began to create the highest quality rakia and brandy in Southeast Europe.

The former winery from 1932 is now the heart of a unique hotel complex for modern wine tourism with a beautiful restaurant, a tasting room, and a museum, known to connoisseurs of fine wines as "Via Pontica."

From 2007-2013, Chernomorsko Zlato invested over 5.5 million euros in the construction of a micro-winery. Micro-winemaking is a unique winemaking technology in which each process is carried out manually. It allows for the production of high-quality wines in limited series.

At the core of it all are well-tended vineyards. We own more than 650 hectares of our own vineyards of the most famous classic wine varieties. With us, all processes are carried out manually – from harvesting, the delicate separation of berries from the stems, to the precise sorting of perfectly healthy and ripe berries.

Exceptional wine is made from exceptional grapes. Situated on the seashore, Pomorie is known as one of the best terroirs for growing white grape varieties.

The quality of the grapes is the main factor in wine production. We take uncompromising care of 650 hectares of our own vineyards, including classic wine varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and the local Thracian Mavrud.

Our vineyards, located in the villages of Razboyna, Troyanovo, Asparuhovo, and Ruzhitsa, are situated on sandy soils with excellent drainage, which give our wines exceptional finesse and minerality.
