Lands of Buth

Lands of Buth

Terre dei Buth is a family winery focused primarily on Prosecco production. It is one of the few 100% organic wineries in the Prosecco DOC region. Here, love for wine and nature go hand in hand and are equally important. From sustainable vineyard cultivation to the application of the most modern technologies in the winery, the aim is to preserve the purity of the grapes from the vineyards to the glass. In addition to grape plantations, the family also produces a variety of vegetables, all of which are organic.

Furthermore, Terre dei Buth wines are suitable for vegans. The brand's philosophy also inspires the creation of the unusual and colorful wine labels – a variety of vegetables, from pink lettuce to eggplant, adorn the winery's beautiful bottles.

Region

Until recently, Prosecco was the name of a white grape variety. However, since 2010, the name has symbolized the protected designation of origin, the highest quality class for sparkling Italian wines - DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). Furthermore, in 2019, the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills, where Glera is grown to produce Prosecco, were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Prosecco is probably the most drinkable sparkling wine in the world. It is produced in a strictly defined area, covering the lands of Veneto and Friuli, and is primarily made from the Glera variety using the Charmat method. The addition of up to 15% other local and international grape varieties to Prosecco is permitted.

Climate and Soils

Throughout the Veneto region, the climate is significantly influenced by the Adriatic Sea to the south and the Alps to the north. This location ensures a mild climate with warm summers, not-too-cold winters, and sufficient rainfall – around 1250 mm annually. The constant natural air circulation ensures that there is no chance of rot in the vineyards.

The marine origin of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene soils is unique. Remnants of glaciers and the Dolomites determine the diverse soil composition. The symbiosis between sand, clay, and marl, as well as the varying elevations in the terroir, are key elements in the formation of different micro-zones.

Wine

In creating its Terre dei Buth wines, the inspiration comes from the wonderful variety of plants, animals, aromas, sounds, and landscapes in the terroir. In collaboration with illustrator Irene Laschi, who specializes in botany, they create unique designs for their bottle labels. These labels depict the fresh and vibrant colors and textures of the vegetables that the family grows on their land.
