4 Centuries of Passion for Viticulture

Bottega is a world-renowned winery and distillery, where a cohesive team of oenologists and experts in winemaking and distillation works. The company is located in Bibano di Godega, Treviso, 50 km north of Venice. For 4 centuries, the Bottega brand has been writing its history in the world of wine and grappa. It all began in 1635 – that's when Bottega's "ancestor" started cultivating vineyards in an exceptionally picturesque location – the hills near Molinetto della Croda in Refrontolo. Initially, he leased land from counts, but later gained his freedom and began cultivating his own land.

In the 1920s, a new chapter in the brand's history began. The wine merchant and oenologist Domenico Bottega was famous for finding the best grapes in the vineyards. His son, Alto Bottega, inspired by his passion for grappa, developed a number of technological innovations in production and created the first single-varietal grappa. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, in 1977 Alto and his wife Rosina founded the Bottega distillery in Pianzano di Godega, Treviso.

Alto and Rosina's heirs – Sandro, Barbara, and Stefano – continue to vigorously develop the family business. After their father's death, Sandro became the brand's CEO. Bottega began to gain increasing popularity as it worked with an innovative distillation system that reduced the alcohol content in grappa, resulting in a more delicate and smoother drink.

In 1987, the Alexander brand also joined Bottega. Five years later, in honor of the family tradition, the Il Vino dei Poeti Prosecco Spumante winery was founded, and Bottega entered the wine market. From a craft enterprise working only in the world of grappa, over the years Bottega has become one of the 20 largest private wineries and distilleries.

In 2007, the Bottega distillery moved to Bibano di Godega di Sant'Urbano, 50 km from Venice, near Conegliano Veneto. It is housed in a large 17th-century farm amidst 10 hectares of vineyards, renovated according to the most modern ecological criteria. Bottega also manages a winery in Valgatara (Verona) and a winery in Montalcino (Siena), where excellent red wines from Valpolicella and Tuscany are produced.

Bottega produces sparkling wines, grappa, spirits, and liqueurs. It uses unique ingredients, processed simply and with extreme care. Adhering to sustainability criteria, the company protects the environment for future generations. One of the brand's most popular products is Bottega Gold, which stands out with its elegant golden bottle. The taste of the drink is appreciated worldwide as the epitome of the expression "Made in Italy".

The hard work over these four centuries, the adherence to family traditions, but also the introduction of innovative methods and technologies, brings eloquent results for Bottega. Bottega wines and liqueurs have received over 350 awards and accolades and are sold in 150 countries worldwide. Since 2017, Bottega Gold has been the second best-selling sparkling wine in retail according to the IWSR ranking.
