Wachau is one of Austria's most culturally and historically fascinating regions. Amidst unique terraced vineyards that have shaped the Wachau landscape for many centuries, the Jamek family is now in its 4th generation of viticulture.

The Jamek winery cultivates 25 hectares of the most highly prized vineyards in Wachau. On the terraces of the famous steep slope Ried Klaus, a Riesling with cult status flourishes, displaying pronounced complexity and the highest aroma. The prehistoric rock terraces of the Achleiten and Liebenberg vineyards are known for their highest-class Grüner Veltliner, which is characteristic of the terroir of Wachau's steep slopes.

The Ried Hochrain and Zweikreuzgarten vineyards in Wösendorf are managed in cooperation with Melk Abbey, a partnership that has lasted for over 40 years. Here, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay of the highest quality are grown.

In Jamek brand wines, you will discover many varieties of the terroir characteristic of the Wachau region. Lightness, fruitiness, and depth form a spectrum that makes wine lovers' hearts beat faster.

The wines are classified into Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd. These are the quality standards of Wachau and the protected trademarks of the regional protection association Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus.

Work in the winery is carried out according to the latest trends in winemaking, and the family always strives to achieve the highest quality.

Josef Jamek began fermenting yeasts in stainless steel tanks back in 1976. After fermentation is complete, the wines traditionally age in large wooden barrels. This gives the wines their elegant and harmonious character.

In 1998, work began on replacing the natural stone walls that had been damaged by storms, rain, and snowfall over the past 500 years. Every free minute from snowmelt until the first frost in November was spent on the masonry. The traditional natural stone walls are built by hand and gain their stability solely through the weight and friction between the stones, created through careful finishing. This ancient craft remains an indispensable part of the winery's employee training to this day. Now, the Achleiten vineyard gleams with new splendor, and the Jamek family is hopeful that the newly built walls will last for at least another 500 years.

Ecological aspects, sustainability, and the preservation of the typical natural stone terrace walls of Wachau characterize the activities in the vineyard. Wachau vineyards do not allow machine processing, and for this reason, all work in the vineyard is done entirely by hand.
